Advanced Animal Diagnostics named one of ‘Ten Small RTP Companies Changing the World’

AAD’s role in antibiotic stewardship recognized by RTP Rotary Club as part of inaugural Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) day of education and recognition

MORRISVILLE, NC — May 1, 2018 — Advanced Animal Diagnostics (AAD) has been recognized as one of Ten Small RTP Companies Changing the World. The award was presented during the Research Triangle Park Rotary Club’s inaugural Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) day of education and recognition at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

“The companies were selected for their reputation for innovation and potential to change the world, and we are delighted they accepted the nomination,” said Michael Waters, PhD., Rotary’s event leader.

AAD also participated in the Innovation Showcase, educating students and the public about its technologies that are being used to enhance the profitability of livestock production and ensure a safe, abundant supply of animal protein. Jasper Pollard, AAD’s Vice President of Research and Development, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“We are excited to accept this honor and would like to congratulate the nine other companies that were recognized,” said Pollard, “At AAD, we are changing the world with our on-site livestock diagnostics that can improve production and quality of animal protein while also ensuring that antibiotics are being used precisely.”

AAD’s on-farm QScout® MLD test is helping dairy producers detect subclinical mastitis, an udder infection, before visual symptoms appear. Finding and treating subclinical mastitis early increases milk production, enhances milk quality, and improves reproductive performance.

AAD has also developed the chute-side QScout® BLD test to identify cattle that would benefit from antibiotic treatment, allowing veterinarians and beef producers to make earlier, more effective and profitable treatment decisions. Trials have demonstrated a significant reduction in overall antibiotic use with no negative impact to performance.
