Senior Mechanical Engineer Opening

Advanced Animal Diagnostics (AAD) is a rapidly-expanding animal diagnostics company with operations in Morrisville, NC that is actively recruiting an outstanding individual to join our growing engineering team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Your primary responsibility will be to develop our product for worldwide deployment into a fast-growing market. You will produce complete designs and documentation, prototype and test components and assemblies, and work closely with manufacturers and fabricators to turn your custom-designed parts into reality. 

You will join a diverse team with expertise spanning hardware and software and can expect regular interaction with members of R&D, business, biological science, and field trial and deployment teams. The successful candidate will be expected to lead small cross-functional teams and organize resources efficiently to meet established timelines and goals.

 

Requirements

  • Expertise in creating system and sub-system level mechanical and electromechanical concepts, prototypes, and final designs.

  • Expertise in the design of small to medium-sized metal and plastic parts employing a variety of fabrication techniques (e.g., machining, sheet metal, molding, 3D printing).

  • Proven experience taking a product from concept into volume production, with a keen eye for design for manufacturability.

  • In-depth knowledge of best practices for engineering documentation, including geometric tolerances and dimensioning and design database management (PDM system experience desired, ECO process experience desired, Arena experience desired).

  • Ability to complete design tasks with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent CAD skills, SolidWorks required, current experience required.

  • Cross-functional team leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, Master’s Preferred.

  • A minimum of 7-years’ experience as the principal or lead designer of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems.
     

Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Experience with precise motion control and optics

  • Manufacturing process development knowledge and experience

  • Manufacturing fixture design experience

  • Light fabrication and assembly experience
